This is an invite-only chat platform hosted for friends and family, operated by Tech Sanity, based out of Faribault, Minnesota with server infrastructure located in Faribault. A web-based chat application for accessing the service can be used at chat.langeslag.family
The service is provided for the intent to provide a safe and privacy-aware alternative to common mainstream messaging platforms (which commonly datamine and sell people's private information, whether they explicitly consent or not), while using well-tested and audited software (such as ejabberd).
The service does not present any advertising, does not host any games, does not algorithmically-prioritize content nor intentionally implement any other addiction-forming designs. Overall, it's just a plain instant messaging service.
Account registration is done through invite by an existing user on the platform. Only known and trusted individuals are allowed to join, there is no anonymous registration allowed. Users under 16 years old are allowed to join, but require explicit parental consent first by at least one parent or legal guardian (usually by phone verification, by calling 507-218-1128)

No information submitted to the service is datamined, monetized, nor used for advertising purposes. Full account termination and deletion can be done at any time, directly within the messaging application.
No information is shared with any third-parties, unless directly addressed to another interoperating platform. Any content sent to other platforms are subject to that platform's respective privacy policy and terms of service.
Basic forensic information such as web browser information and IP address is stored for the purpose of responding to any abuse of services.
Any information stored on a user's account can be requested by the user at any time, provided that request can be thoroughly verified as being initiated by the account owner (or parent/guardian, for any accounts for minors).
The service is provided for the use of instant messaging, sharing audiovisual content, as well as video/voice calling. It is prohibited to use the services for harassment, sexual content, phishing, scamming, identity theft, fraud, or any activities that are illegal in the United States. Violation of service can result in termination of the account, and in extreme cases—legal consequence.
It is the responsibility of the user to maintain the security of their account, such as by maintaining the use of secure login information (employing reasonable password complexity). The user is responsible for any abuse of services incurred from a compromised account, if the user is determined to be at fault for not properly securing their account.
